Project Global Inform

Information

Project Global Inform

(PGI) is an in-school project where students use media to spread awareness about human rights violations. PGI came out of the idea that we too often “teach” our students about genocide and human rights violations, but never “do” anything about it.

PGI September Launch

Project Global Inform is launching as a non-profit organization this fall, with the goal of signing up at least 25 classrooms worldwide for the 2010-2011 school year. PGI has been successfully piloted at Wissahickon High School (2008-2009, 2009-2010) and is ready to let students impact the world around them.

If you are a teacher interested in running a 2, 4, or 6 week project based on genocide and human rights violations, please join this group, visit the website, and download the curriculum. All questions can be directed to info@project-inform.org.

Most of the footage was from Alex Marados "Human Rights" video and he let us use it for a great cause! Hopefully it gets the message across...

i've been in the classroom 20 years Larry - trust me - you will be blown away by the adrenalin these collabs create. it's a very cool experience - it empowers kids - knowing they are doing work that matters. enjoy..

Monika,
Collaborating via the net, and in general, is new to me and I'm sure to my students, too. I've been teaching since 2003 (mid-life career change from free-lance ghost writer to teaching). However, I can see the positive aspects of global collaboration; new learning will take place, old ideas will change, and new friendships will be made.

I visited new School a few minutes ago; I'm impressed with the quality of the site as well as the content. I look forward to using information from the site and hopefully collaborating with others and my students.

my student is pumped. let's plug her in.

she would have the potential of drawing many others in as well.. she's already ventured onto student 2.0 and new school and could spread the word those places.
