We are a Mac 1:1 laptop school - students buy their own laptops for the program (it's a private school).  It seems that the basic MacBook model was discontinued this summer- that was the model we were recommending to students. I'd love to allow MacBook Air as they are now the cheapest option, but this is a major stumbling block for our IT Department to deploy them on the scale we need;  has anyone successfully imaged a set of airs without the usually needed ethernet port?  How do you get around this?  Thanks!!

That is a concern for your IT Dept. Let them know what you want to do with the hardware/software. All you have to learn is how to use those application you will be using regularly. I'm also in a private school.

Yes, and on behalf of my IT Dept, I am wondering if there are any schools out there that have managed to configure/image a lot of Airs - Right now they are saying we can't offer them due to this limitation (no ethernet port for imaging).

I found this adapter - but I'm still interested in others' experiences with this product...
