With my after school writing club (grade 7 and 8)I had a blog. Only one student had used it an only a couple of times. I now have attached to my library web page a blog of the books I have read. I'm hoping a few of my reading club members will add some of their own books. The library writing blog was privatized. Entries and comments came through me first.

how do you privitize?

I started using blogmeister with a grade 5 research class. I had some minor log in problems but that was an error on my part. I like blogmeister because it is secure and all comments and posts go thru your email first. You can send posts back to students for revision before posting them, should any inappropriate or hurtful comments come in they will come to you first thru your email and you can decide what to do then. I don't know of such a thing happening,, but in case it did your in control. So you moderate everything. Issue would be: do you want all this activity in your email and do you have the time to monitor it? I hope to use blogmeister this year for another research class as well as a book club with three other local schools participating.
