We have teachers using Google Sites, calendars and Google Video at my high school. It did take a while to get teachers up to speed. I started by giving teachers PD on Google Sites and calendar.

We have just implemented Google Docs in my middle school. The kids are loving it but I'm having a little trouble with teachers learning new tricks. Can y'all share ideas of how your teachers are using these tools in their classrooms?
Thanks

Please help me build a list of K12 public school districts that are using Google Apps for Education by completing this 4 item survey. Thanks! Survey

There is not a bridge here. Typically I export data like staff and student names from PowerSchool and import them into Google apps to create accounts. We are just 2 schools however, bigger deployments I believe integrate Apps with the API and their network. Someone else can speak to this better than I.

Thanks Norm. Does PowerSchool integrate with Google Apps?

Google Apps won't work for SIS, but replaces email services, documents sharing, and shared calendars. We use PowerSchool for SIS which is very powerful and is completely web bases if you get it hosted with Pearson.

I want to understand the benefits of using Google Apps for Education. What systems did you replace with Google Apps? What does your school use for SIS? I am working with a school that is looking to change SIS to a more comprehensive all in one package. Is Google Apps something we should look into?

Thanks Jess for the very simple instruction to access the Google form data. I will be experimenting with it tomorrow.

We are using Postini Security with Google Apps at my school. It is really easy and has helped keep the system secure.

Schools need to sign by July 2010 to receive it for free.

St. Vrain Valley School District has implemented Google Apps for Education - we call it St. Vrain Apps. We have not implemented the email portion yet as we are in the process of changing our AUP's to fit as well as working on getting Postini for archiving.

April 14th we are presenting to the Superintendent's Cabinet, why we should go with the email portion as well as move from Microsoft Outlook to St. Vrain Apps comprehensively. We are planning two ISP's and adding bandwidth as we have YouTube open and it maxes out our 100 already.

Any tips, advice, great K12 school district stories that are not on the GAE site already would be appreciated.
