I wanted to invite all teachers to check out the review website that I created.  It might be helpful to teachers that have large numbers of vocabulary terms.

http://www.bubbabrain.com   Play the demo game on the homepage to better understand the concept.  The top left card will say "find this" - click on the match and clear the board.  My students love using it to review vocabulary.  You can create your own games for free.

Joel,

can the "old groups" be made into "new groups" or do we have to start all over again?

We;ve been running into the issue that parents/student forget to check their "groups" when using fb. We will most likely go to either a "team" account or a fan page next year. What I do have to say is my team (I teach in a middle school) loves it and parents love all the videos, pictures, and posts from all 4 of our teachers that edit it. It's been a great test year.

That was my concern; that students would get very distracted.

I talk to more and more people today that have a facebook. When using it in the classroom. Are there certin pages that you create for the students just so they can only talk to the people in the classrrom without talking to all of the firends?

Joel, What do you mean by "new" groups feature? I use Facebook groups in my classroom but I'm not sure exactly what you're referring to. I'd be glad to discuss this more with you. Just let me know.

Once we got our heads around how to use FB properly we now use it as a place community place for our users and potential customers. In fact if we are talking education, we now use it to conduct a Daily Educational Question Competition where each day we provide a multiple choice question which parents and teachers can use to show their children how to use the Net effectively to find the correct answer. http://bit.ly/cA33A9

Each player with the correct answer wins points depending on whether they are the first, second or third with the correct answer, and the first to 25 points wins a 12 month GOLD MEMBERSHIP subscription worth ($200) to use all of the 1,500 online educational videos on the Zane Education website.

We simultaeneously run the comp for both US-based players and non US-based players to accommodate international time differences.

In many ways we find it easier to use FB as a community point rather than forcing people to come to our site which I believe some fell is more threatening because they see it as our 'home turf', so to speak.

Hey Chris. We use both personal and fan pages. The personal pages are used more for the classroom, but do have more pitfalls as you have to really watch what is being posted. The fan pages are used more for community outreach and the more visible applications. We post things like sports scores, BETA, and other special events and announcements to fan pages. I don't think that one is better than the other. It's more a question of the application and what is best for you.
