I have some teachers/students interested in using Skype for communicating with other students across the country. Great idea, but aside from the AUP, do you use any kind of permission slip or release to allow student participation? If so, will you share with me?

Thanks,

I think a permission slip is a great idea if you are thinking about using Skype in the classroom to ensure that parents are aware of the types of people and information their children have access to. Another point to think about before using Skype in the classroom are the potential risks that go along with it. While Skpe can be a useful communication tool, like any other messaging system, there are risks that come along with it.

Dangers can include phishing scams, viruses, and even online predators. Check out this informative guide that goes over the different risks and how Skype can be used as an educational tool.
