I recently started a group involving learning style differences and the brain. I am identifying the students that you want to teach. Nice match.

I was active on the research end of things and not instruction, and I would like to hear how it sounds from your perspective.
In another life, I found about 25% of students showed decreased performance when an oral response is required.
I can relate this to both reading disability and spelling.
What else would be related?
If you had full control of the situation, what differential instruction would you prescribe for such children? Web 2.0 Tools for COLLEGE Diverse Learners ...tag:www.classroom20.com,2009-03-30:649749:Topic:3180322009-03-30T20:16:07.444ZROLLY MAIQUEZhttps://www.classroom20.com/profile/ROLLYMAIQUEZ
Hello to all ... I'm giving a presentation to instructors at a local community college on Diverse Learners. This is in the realm of differentiated instructions. Any thoughts on what to concentrate on? It's a short (40-minute) preso and I wanted to go to the direction of using Web 2.0 tools in a classroom of diverse learners. Suggestions? :-)

Hi everyone. I was wondering if anyone from this group has attended the Learning Differences Conference which are held each at the Harvard Graduate School of Education? If so, I'd love to hear some feedback about it. This years conference looks set to examine the work on differentiated instruction and methods for individualising the teaching process to address the needs of a wide range of learners. You can find more information here.
Cheers,
Our school is a K-12 private school. We are standards based and use diagnostic assessments for setting baseline skills of our students in reading, writing and math. We also use these tests fperiodically for checking student progress and adjusting instruction if necessary. To further aid our students understanding we instituted differentiated instruction three years ago. In order to do so, we provided our teachers with two years of extensive training and follow-up. The problem is there is still not school-wide use of the methods. Though all of our teachers have assured us that they agree with the philosophy many have been slow to implement it or resistant to give it a trial at all.
As educators who believe in differentiation, can you give me your insight into how to get the train out of the station? I know change takes time, effort and support, however maybe there are additional considerations which have not been met.
