I would look at the Ipod Touch school wide implementation forum/discussion, they have a lot of info in there.

I allow iPods in my 8th grade classroom, although I do not have a classroom set. One of my favorite uses is vocabulary development. When having whole class discussions, I will often ask a question regarding a specific word or words. For example, the other day we were discussing "courage" and the word "bravery" was brought up. Without hesitation, two students looked up the words on their iPods and shared that the definition was identical. This brought up another discussion about synonyms. It was a perfect teachable moment and nobody ran across the room to grab a dictionary.

A few other apps that I love in the classroom are Algebra Solver, hangman, and Cool Facts. There are a ton of history apps, as well, such as US History, Constitution, iAmerica, and gFlash+ (flashcards).

I've used the app Cram with my students to create quizzes for their vocabulary and spelling words. The nice thing is that it tracks their scores over time.

Hi Jennifer, 

I know it's been over a year since you posted this, but let me know if you're still looking for ideas.  I, too, have a cart of iPods in my classroom and am learning lots and have some resources.

I use my ipod touch with my esl students and for those that need extra support.  I teach kindergarten and there are great apps for them to use.  i also have group folders so when my volunteers come in they can  just open the right folder and work with any of those apps.  Our 5th grade teachers have set up  augmented reality
