Penny, I used delicious for years and just migrated to diigo, another online bookmarking site. Our tech integrater suggested it because of the lists and groups though I am still learning how to utilize them!

Thanks for the post! I have used Delicious for quite some time, but mainly just to store my own bookmarks. I never really investigated all the other possibilities. I've just done some exploring and will certainly do more when I have more time! I'm not sure mine are well organized or tagged real well, but my user name is jzvme.

I love Delicious but I love Diigo even more, especially for the classroom, for the highlighting and sticky notes. The best part is, that you can sync up your Delicious and Diigo accounts so that your bookmarks are shared across both programs. As a librarian, I like using Diigo for classes, not only by setting up a class Group and building a collection of shared resources for a project, but also for teaching the importance of tagging and controlled vocabularies in information access and management.

I have a Diigo too but I haven't used it as much. I can't remember what the frustrations were, but I have heard there are some cool things on there and will give it a try again.

Hi Penny, I'm an avid fan of Diigo nowadays having migrated from delicious. Diigo has a fabulous highlighter for web pages which is really helpful when you find good articles online. You can even post sticky notes on there which you can share with your network or keep private. The one thing I haven't found is how to view all my tags horizontally in a bundle like you can in delicious, so sometimes if I haven't tagged things specific enough it can be hard to locate my saved sites. I'd be interested to hear how you organise your bookmarks and I'm happy to share my bookmarks with you.

I do have a Diigo. If you have the Diigo button in your toolbar, then you choose "My Library (web)" from the drop down, then your tags are listed on the left side. I am not sure that my bookmarks are really well organized. I have 359 tags in my Delicious. I try to be specific when tagging, so I can search my sites easy enough...
My user name in Diigo is Hildinger. I have 101 tags there too, but I haven't used Diigo in probably at least a few years, I always save to Delicious on my toolbar.

I think delicious is great!!   I have been using it for a couple of months now.  I have just started a Web 2.0 class recently and delicious is a great way to "get organized".  I have got everything from school curriculum on it to hobbies at home.  What a wonderful tool.

I've been a user of delicious since 2006. My concern is that for Yahoo it is no longer bussines. You can read about it in their blog:

I don't know what will come next (if someone buys it and keeps on living or not). What I know is that I can't export all. The export file that delicious generates is an html only with bookmarks and their tags. But not my network (which anyways will be rebuit somewhere else) nor my bunddles. As I am a 4-5 years user with ~600 tags, bundles are quite important to me.

So, as I've been I have question and a recommendation.

Reco: Keep an eye on delicious future, and if you are new to it, keep it's use simple so that if you need to change tool, you won't loose work.

Q:

¿How are tags managed in other socialbookmarking tools? (i.e. Diigo)

¿Does anyone know of a trick extending the export tool of delicious to more elements?

Delicious is supposed to be able to be imported to Google Bookmarks, but I have been unsuccessful in doing so.

I am just learning it too.  I still prefer Delicious just for the fact that you have your own network and you can see what the most recent and most popular bookmarks are at the moment.  I catch mysled browsing them for way too long...

I just started using Delicious just over a week ago and I am really impressed with the organization and tag lines it provides.

It makes my old book marks folder seem so antiquated.
