I had an opportunity to see Greg Mortenson, author of "Three Cups of Tea," speak last night in Huntington Beach. He is a great speaker and has an inspiring message. If you have a chance to see him speak, go.

More importantly, if you haven't read the book, pick up a copy. One interesting thing I didn't know is how well the book has done with virtually no publicity. It's been on the NYT Bestseller list for over 50 weeks now. And Mortenson is going to be the keynote speaker at ALA this year. Quite a feat considering his humble beginnings of trying to raise awareness of his cause (education and literacy) with almost no success.

I agree. I own all three versions of the book (including the children's version which is beautifully illustrated.)

My World Studies class is currently reading the young adult version. They love it.
