The initial and ongoing support of teachers is a critical component of a 1:1 in my opinion. We have had Curriculum Technology Partners (Instructional Coaches) in our district since 1992 and currently have 5 elementary and 5 secondary teachers that serve in this role. I have attached our latest tech plan and if you go to page 14 there is a pretty good description of what the CTP program is all about in our district.

We are in the early stages of planning our 1:1, but our plan is implement 3 grade levels a year in a 3 year implementation plan. This will allow us to focus the work of our CTP staff on the classrooms we are implementing and hopefully help teachers implement the pedagogical and management changes that will be necessary for success. We are also planning to use existing PLC structures to promote rich and ongoing professional development to our staff.

I am constantly reminding our people that the hardware is easy but the pedagogical change is hard. Depending on the size of your implementation, don't be afraid to include additional staff in your proposal. It doesn't have to be permanent staff, but you need to get the decision makers to understand the importance of the professional development aspects of the program.

I couldn't agree with Darin more. Any effective implementation starts with a deep training program to build capacity for the teachers. I also agree that to ensure the shift, advanced training for local experts or teacher-leaders is an added level of support. Thanks for sharing the plan, Darin!
