I'd like to start a website that would feature wordpress style blog entries on the front page, but also could have links to other more traditionally built pages. I have dreamweaver for construction of those pages.

My questions are these:
What is the quickest way to learn customized wordpress style sites? (I have photoshop skills and was thinking about just picking up "wordpress for dummies" or something similar over holiday break)
I haven't had to upload to a host site since college 8 years ago. I basically need to keep everything in one root folder, correct?
Is this a bad idea--is there something much easier?

i would recommend getting a WP theme that takes advantage of WP as a CMS and not wasting time in dreamweaver... e.g., a theme that comes with static page templates (full-width, etc.) that you can code through WP's HTML editor and customize the CSS... check out WooThemes... i've probably viewed 1000's of themes, and these IMO are the best without question, great support, too if you buy one for $75
Or cut straight to it and do a website on Weebly or Webnode. All drag and drop, no coding or uploading, free domain hosting, no ads, blog or web pages or both. Maybe something worth thinking about. Not sure you how set you were on the Wordpress thing .
