Hi! I am looking for a way to capture video clips from DVDs, streaming videos, etc., so that teachers can use the clips in the classroom to illustrate concepts. Any web 2.0 tools come to mind?

You'll need a non-web solution for DVDs. I use Adobe Premiere Elements when the DVD is not copy protected and of course I'd never do ANYTHING with a copy protected DVD. :x

For streaming videos it depends largely on where they are coming from. Firefox with any of the many video grabber plugins would be your best bet to start.
