I'm a social studies teacher in NJ and really into leveraging technology.  My students were developing Public Service Announcements that they were going to present live in front of the class.  Out of nowhere I decided to find out who in their groups had smart phones and could film the PSA rather than present live.  The results were amazing!  My students were unbelievably creative and enthusiastic and for a first pass did a great job putting together a short film.  So my question: does anyone have any good resources, advice, lesson plans, etc. for using smart phones in the classroom.  I see this as a way to conduct interviews, group discussions, skits, etc.  Anything and all feedback is welcome.

Hi, Adam. There is a similar thread at http://www.classroom20.com/forum/topics/using-cellphones-in-classroom. Some good advice in there about how to incorporate cell phones/smart phones into lessons. I also recommend checking out a site mentioned in that same thread, cellphonesinlearning.com.

Hi Adam,

I just recently learned about a program called Poll Everywhere where students can respond to teacher-created polls or quizzes via their smartphones. It is free to use and is great for getting instant feedback from your students. I can also see it being used in a review capacity. Here is the website: http://www.polleverywhere.com/

Cheers,

Andrea
