"The Guardian"--Gr. 9 ELA Special Ed teacher seeks partner class in southern USA

<posted here for Eileen>

Hi. We are a classroom of six students from New York state.  I am a 9th grade ELA Special Education teacher. I am looking to partner with a class from the southern USA. In February, we will be reading "The Guardian" by Julius Lester.  It is similar to "To Kill a Mockingbird" in that it addresses racial discrimination.

We are hoping that our students can communicate with their southern peers through email, Skype, audio/video messages to share their thoughts and reflections on this book.  We'd love to collaborate in planning this unit.

We are open to classrooms that are slightly younger or older as well.  We are looking forward to a great experience!
