Looking for Video Skype pals for my computer class

I teach 8th grade language arts in North Carolina. I would love to do book discussions on skype. We have laptop carts and webcams. I am starting a unit on immigration now and can give you a list of our book club novels if you're interested.

Hello everyone that replied!

October or November even won't be too late to start. We started in August so we're kinda settled in already.

I have access to all of the grades because I see all of the grades. If you would like to work with a class on your garde or above, just let me know.

I'm looking to do an intro activity to start so we all can figure out what we're doing:) A getting to know you mixer between the classes.

I would have all of my kids write 3-5 things about themselves to share that they could read to the camera and I can talk a little about our school and school day. Then your kids could do the same. This will allow us to try things out and work out any kinks.

I'm ready for this when anyone else is. Just let me know if you want to try it with your grade so I can have the kids get their info ready.

I would be interested in younger classes... like 2nd, - 5th .... We are in Florida .. and it would be interesting to compare weather and seasonal differences because of local, book discussions, creative writing ... I am open to anything. but it would have to be via my media center.. We are not that lucky to have the imacs and isight ....

Denise --- Can we look at picking out a grade level.. How about 2nd? or 3rd? I would love to get started with this asap...
I like the idea of the mixer.. and having them write 2 or 3 sentences about themselves..
Want to pick a date.. I can schedule the class around that..
Also I will be presenting at a state conference in Orlando ... Oct. 1st .. early in the am ==8-9am .. I would love to skype in for that?? My personal skype name is flomedia. When we set up the one with the kids we will use the school skype. What is yours?

I'm interested in Skyping with classes of various ages across the globe this Spring. Our whole school K-8 studies various continents and world history for April - May and we would love to connect with other countries to expand our learning.
