Alight Learning is a free new web tool that helps middle school students, teachers, and parents communicate and collaborate more effectively online in an intuitive, school-safe environment. Like many of the great tools listed on Classroom2.0, teachers will have the opportunity to adopt our service without charge and on an individual, opt-in basis. Our team consists of six students from Olin College of Engineering near Boston. We are all taking the full year off of school (between 2nd and 3rd years) to jumpstart this business.

Ideablob is a website to post ideas, get feedback, and for the best team to ultimately go for a $10,000 prize. We recently posted our idea, and now we need help with votes of support. If you visit our page and vote for our idea, you can help us get the seed funding we need to pull this off. Note that the site has weekly "sprint" winners and a final competition for the top six ideas at the end of the month. If we make it to the finals, we would love your support one last time before Christmas.

Thanks for your support! Also, any feedback or comments for the idea itself can be posted on Ideablob, added to this Ning thread, or sent directly to me.

Hey Mandy,
Our team is currently working on our user research and business plan to serve an initial group of local middle schools. We very strongly see the value of a focus and a plan and are quickly narrowing our idea to something that is feasible for our relatively small team of six. One of the most important aspects of our idea is the community we intend to build. Teachers, students, and parents will be able to safely and effortlessly connect with one another. Check out the comments and description on the Ideablob website for a lot more details. Thanks again,
andy
