Hi John,
I teach numeracy to adult learners who mostly did not achieve a maths qualification at school. I encourage my students to use on-line games to develop their basic numeracy skills. I really like the BBC Skillswise website. Not only does it have great resources that I can use when planning my lessons but it has lots of fun, interactive games. I usually have the website up and running during lessons, suggesting students try out some of the games. These are usually linked to the topic that we have been looking at in the lesson. Interestingly, the students seem to view this activity as a 'break' from formal teaching. The games also help to embed general literacy and IT skills in a way that the students are not real aware of!
I will check our IXL math too - thanks for recommending it.
