Hi Everyone,

I am a French Immersion teacher and would like ask all the other French teachers out there, what is your best strategy for getting your students to speak French in the classroom? I am especially looking for ideas to use with younger students. I need some new ideas!

Thanks!

When I taught English as a foreign language, I found that "tickets" worked really well with younger students. They all started off with a certain number of "tickets" and would lose them if they spoke in the native language, either to me or to another student who "caught" them. When someone lost all her tickets, she would have to pay a penalty and anyone who collected a certain number of tickets would get a prize. We would also give bonuses when people were consistently "caught" speaking the target language.

Hope this is useful!!!

I have used ticket systems in the past and often they work really well. Thanks for the response!

Does anyone else have any other ideas? I'd love to hear them!
