Digital Textbooks: Do they save money? Are they effective? Is their use inevitable?

I hope most of you will check out this great article in today's NY Times on Digital textbooks referred to me by colleague Molly Hamm. Oddly, some administrators quoted cite budget cuts as a reason NOT to use them, while others, including California Gov. Schwarzenneger, claim that they will save tons of money. What do you think?

BTW, my apologies to Jack Hutchinson, who I see already suggested this article earlier. Thanks Jack!
John,

Here is my blog post about the topic: http://philly-teacher.blogspot.com/2009/07/kindling-our-way-to-simp...

I am excited by the possibilities of digital textbooks, but have some questions/concerns that are discussed in the post.

Thanks for starting this discussion-it is one that I have been pondering for a while!
