Call for Cell Phone Lesson Plans
I'm interested in compiling a bank of cell phone lessons that can be shared both digitally and hopefully in print as well. I had done a similar project collecting a bank of lessons for student tech support teams.
Educators contribute lessons, one or two each, which becomes a bank of lessons for everyone.
I am inviting anyone who has, or is interested in writing a lesson incorporating cell phones to contribute here http://tinyurl.com/CellPhoneLessonForm. It is a very basic and flexible lesson plan template. You can see a sample of what the finished literacy lesson might look like at http://tinyurl.com/LitCellLesson or social studies lesson at http://tinyurl.com/SSCellLesson.
Please note that these lessons can be applicable even in schools where cell phones are banned as they can be incorporated into the work/homework students do outside of school.

Katherine, great questions. I wrote two sample lessons and I find the grade level is really not all that important as the lessons are rather general and could be modified as needed. In short, any grade level is fine.
Regarding how will they be accessed...I'm open. I have published the ones I wrote on my blog. I'm also trying to gain a collection for a book I'm hoping to write...of course I would create authors and publish those from whom I had permission.
I would love to just publish them/or a link in some smart places that would be helpful for educators. Please share if you have ideas, and please, share a lesson :-)

This is my contribution.
This is what I used in a class for teachers:
Part 1: Design an activity with a video for the cell phone
• Watch these videos* (3) [adjectives, carlos-a, reading-a] (files included)
• Choose one of them and download it to your cell phone
• Design an activity with the video
o Decide the characteristics of the class (age, level, etcetera)
o Decide the focus of the activity (grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, speaking, writing, reading, or speaking), chose only one
• Give as many details as possible
• You may use these videos (files included) with your students but make sure what kind of files -3gp, mp4, other- your students’ cell phones play, beforehand.
Part 2: Design your own video for a cell phone
• Go to these websites and analyze what they have

• Bring the material to class (use your USB memory, a CD, a DVD, your cell phone, your mp3 player, whatever you want)
Remember you must ask for permission before using or modifying material, or at least MENTION the source if you do not get the permission. This is a Non-Profit Educational Presentation or Project.
