Kansas is testing the 3D world, Second Life from Linden Lab, to recruit teachers to open positions across the state. A select group of school districts will be participating in a virtual career fair March 4, 2008 from 12:00 - 4:00 at the Greenbush Second Life Island. We are looking for teachers who interested in talking with school districts. Also, I'd be interested to hear if anyone here has any experience participating in an event like this in Second Life. I have a Second Life ... and SL is absolutely amazing. Most everyone that I work with doesn't even know about it ... or have remotely heard about it ... but I live in central Mexico. I am trying to get teachers to use email.

If you need a "streaker" during your fair .. let me know .. I can dart through a few of the interview sessions or past the info booth! Hehehe!

Good luck .. and do keep us posted. If you need any outside helpers inside SL during the fair .. let me know ... as I am already there poking around (I promise not to streak) ....

Thanks Frank! I'll keep you posted and let you know if we need a few extra avatars during the event. Thanks for brining up streaking:)
That's a neat idea. I have a Second Life persona and as I've been wandering around I'm really intrigued at the entire concept. I haven't gotten to know the place really well yet though. I'd be interested to see what kind of response this career fair has and how people in the Second Life community take to it. Keep us posted!
I have also been known to wander SL as well, and I will attest to the opinion held by Frank, that it is an amazing place. You really do have to experience it to really understand what it is all about. I didn't realize this myself until I tried to explain it to other people - I found that it is almost impossible! SL is changing and growing exponentially, and I don't feel I have experienced more than a small fraction of it. Over the past year or so, there has been quite a stirring of interest in the use of SL in education, and I have been trying to get involved in some of the many educational organizations that now have a presence in SL. I have also been busy learning how to create within the world of SL, and teach classes in building for one of the schools.
I think your idea is a good one, and if you have need of any assistance for this, or another in-world endeavor, I would also be happy to offer my services, if it is at all possible.
