Show where you are...students motivation

Hi,
Getting ready to start an Online International EFL student collaboration on wikispaces I wonder what is your experience with students motivation. Feedback or advice would be welcome.

Project overview:
Using Web 2.00 tools and showing the world where they are, (K 8-12) participants collaborate among each other and in international teams (3-5 members); they create video shows and present live, becoming more aware about the diverse global culture.
