I've heard a couple of references to web 3.0...so what is it?

As Indigo said, these are all just marketing terms. In the end, it's how technology is used that is important. I know teachers who barely even use computers and never use e-mail. Clearly there still needs to be a push to get non-techies to use beneficial technology in the classroom.
