I am wondering what educators and EduBloggers think about Lively and its potential as a learning tool. I have created a lounge for educators and EduBloggers to play around in and to get their Lively sea legs in shape.
I do like that rooms are embeddable and that I can move more comfortably than I can in SL. Of course, Lively and SL are hardly comparable at this point. But, I am really liking the conversations that I have had with people inside the lounge.
The EduBloggers' Lounge is at http://tinyurl.com/5bntpl. You do need to install a browser plugin available at Lively.com. The bad news is that Lively only works on Windows for now.
Jason, maybe we can arrange a meetup? There aren't many people using Lively yet for a number of reasons. And, it is certainly more fun if you have someone to interact with. Eventually, I plan to have scheduled sessions, but for now it is just drop on in ... let me know!
I've been working with Second Life for awhile now and have to agree that Lively is different, to say the least. But I think the very fact that you can embed it in a web page makes it a lot more accessible. I'd love to see play around with it some more and see if this is something we can use for learning.
If you guys are planning any kind of test sessions in there, please let me know too! I'm a big geek for this stuff, but I also am a big believer in its potential.
