5 Frequent Problems with Technology Professional Development

I just got done reading a thoughtful poston technology professional development written by Evan Abbey. I wanted to highlight a few of his "common pitfalls."

"Its not about the tool, its about the end outcome." <-- This is a big idea for me, particularly here at Classroom 2.0. Too often we get "hyped about the hardware" and forget about how it connects with our content and appropriate pedagogy.

"...if we fall in the trap of trying to do all the tools for all the teachers, nothing will be done." Just like any "initiative," we can't bog our staff down with all kinds of tools to try. A "mile deep" rather than an "inch wide" should be our approach.

What pitfalls have you seen in your technology-related professional development?

Yep. Fully agree. Check out my blog post on an amazing technology PD conference (Apple Leadership Summit). Explains what a good PD might look like
