If all else fails, I will assign topics to my students. Please consider joining us. We're looking for resources to complement a new Arabic program at our school (MSA) and I'm looking for resources/recommendations - are there any online resources or software titles you can recommend? We're having trouble finding good quality materials for non-native speakers, specifically for grades 7-12. Thanks in advance.

Is there a free alternative to G-CAST?tag:www.classroom20.com,2010-11-26:649749:Topic:5724062010-11-26T17:53:28.135ZFred Ravanhttps://www.classroom20.com/profile/FredRavan
I am a Spanish teacher and want to give my students a chance to practice speaking. I thought about having them call my cell phone and leave a short message with the required info but, I am concerned that I may run afoul of a school district policy (or two) Is there an application that would allow them to use their cell phones to leave me message? I used to use G-Cast but they are not free and are closing down on Dec 31st. Any thoughts?
The turnitin.com website is used extensively by the English teachers in my high-school building. I was wondering if anyone knew of a similar site dedicated to foreign-language. Thanks!

The University of Maine has decided to eliminate all language majors. This is the flagship university in Maine. There are numerous ramification from this move. One is the impact this will have on secondary education--- there will be no new language teachers produced in Maine. Our teaching force, like that of most of the nation is aging and many are approaching retirement age. Please consider using the link below to voice you opposition to this foolhardy move.
I teach IB level French. Does anyone have any suggestions for 2.0 projects you've done with your IB/AP FL classes? In particular I'm interested in WebQuest projects. I've never done a formal WebQuest.

It allows you to set spoken assignments, evaluate them, give feedback with no download, no student subscriptions, no cumbersome programme or links. Once on it, access easy to follow set up instructions, and many assignments that you can use straight away. Here is one sure way to collate spoken evidence for portfolios. What's more, the young creators of Lingt are really keen to work with teachers, and they wish to hear from us and our needs!
I've provided a short intro to Lingt, how it works and what specialists think of it at this link
Potentially this great tool would be really useful to Teachers of Languages in NZ in particular, since our assessment system is skill based, with great emphasis on communication, and is internally assessed throughout the school year. I would welcome feedback from any user, on how you use Lingt in your classroom, what for, if it is successful etc. And as I mentioned above, this feedback could be passed on to Justin and Chris, the Lingt co-founders, since they are keen to iron out hiccups but also to tailor Lingt to teachers needs. I am trying to add tracks off of a CD to a QUIA quiz that I have created but am having no luck. Does anyone have any suggestions or tips? I would settle for simply adding my own voice asking the questions but am having trouble with that too. Advice?
