Event Description

ntcamp is very excited to announce the partnership of ntcamp and WHYY Philadelphia! This summer ntcamp will be hosted by WHYY at their studios on Independence Mall, Philadelphia. The event will take place on Saturday, July 30, 2011 from 8am to 4pm. The ntcamp organizers are very excited about this partnership and excited to bring ntcamp into the heart of Philadelphia.

The primary focus of ntcamp will be presenting a day of engaging, participatory driven professional development to new and veteran educators. All levels of experience in education or related fields are welcome. Everyone attending is welcome to lead sessions. The driving philosophy of ntcamp is that each year we should all consider ourselves new teachers regardless of our experience. Each year we should drive to learn something new and integrate something fresh into our classroom practices.

The secondary focus of ntcamp will be creating a personal learning network (PLN) or critical friends group (CFG) for new teachers. New teachers will leave ntcamp with a new support group of professionals in the field of education. Experienced educators will also leave with new contacts to add to their established networks. There will be time for attendees to gather informally and share ideas as well as a variety of sessions for them to attend, run by their colleagues and fellow educators. This forum allows for a free flow of ideas and is centered on conversations.

ntcamp is completely free, with all refreshments and other amenities provided solely through sponsorship. With the possibility of up to 200 attendees, the organizers are looking for local businesses that may be interested in being featured in the conference literature and on various social networks such as Facebook and Twitter. Those interested in being a sponsor can make donations and/or contact the organizers on the website.
